Dora Segall is a music promoter, reporter, photographer and yoga teacher. Her work explores the counterculture, the occult and sexuality.
As the marketing director of Sleeping Village, a small but mighty music venue in Chicago, Dora spends her time innovating strategies to empower fringe artists and promote events ranging from local (DIY bands) to global (Lollapalooza, Riot Fest aftershows) in scope. She oversees the venue’s social media, email and print materials.
Beyond their day job, Dora freelances as a photographer and occasional music reporter/critic. Their written work has appeared in SPIN and other outlets, and they publish a monthly music newsletter, The Roundup. They run the photo booth for Sanctum Dark Music Festival and are currently working on a second release for their “deranged calender shop,” a campy attempt to bring back the print calendar.
A person of arguably too many passions, Dora can also be found DJing and teaching yoga. Her aim in both is inviting others to explore the darker side of human experience, whether it be through dancing to clubby, industrial tracks or exploring an emotionally evocative stretch on their mat.
